Chapman Technical Group provided design and construction phase services, including part-time construction observation, for the upgrade project for Beckley Water Company. The project included the retrofitting of an existing concrete setting basin with the installation of parallel two-stage flocculation units followed by a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) treatment system in half of the existing basin. The remainder of the basin was converted to a chlorine contact basin following the DAF system. These improvements were implemented to reduce Disinfection By-Products (DBP's). The plant has an average design capacity of 8.5 MGD, with a peak capacity of 10.0 MGD.
